ELLE Decor Leads Shelter Category in Circulation and Newsstand Sales, and Outpaces U.S. Consumer Magazine Industry for Second Half of 2010

ELLE Decor, the preeminent title in the shelter category for two years in a row, ranked in the top 3% for newsstand sales of all 572 magazines measured by ABC for the second half of 2010. Sales at newsstand soared despite a 20% increase in cover price ($5.99); ELLE Decor was one of only two titles in the top 20 that raised its cover price in 2010. Within the shelter category, ELLE Decor enjoyed the largest boost in newsstand sales with a 26.3% gain measured against:

  • ELLE Decor (+26.3%)
  • House Beautiful (+16.1%)
  • Architectural Digest (-3.5%)
  • Veranda (-3.5%)
  • Traditional Home (-6.1%)
  • Dwell (-16.9%)

Total circulation rose +10.2% over 2009. The title was only one of two affluent consumer magazines in the top 33 titles for 2010 for a total circulation gain. Other shelter titles did not fare as favorably:
