Javier Bardem to star in ‘The Dark Tower’
Javier Bardem is reportedly set to star in ‘The Dark Tower‘.
The ‘No Country For Old Men’ actor – who is believed to have beaten competition from Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig for the role – will play the part of gunslinger Roland Deschain in the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s book series of the same name.
A source told ‘The New York Post’: “Bardem has signed on to the first movie and the miniseries, but the intention is that he will star in all the movies and each of the TV series. It’s an enormous deal for any actor, but Bardem was always the first choice.”
Ron Howard will direct Javier – who is married to ‘Gothika’ actress Penelope Cruz – in the movie, which should be a cracker if it lives up to the quality of Stephen’s books.
The film tells the story of Roland searching for a dark tower in an attempt to save the dying world, and we’ve got plenty of time to read the book and find out what happens as the movie’s expected release is May 2013.
