Il Volo Comes Stateside, Trying To Match Italian Success

by Emmett Lindner

Move over Jonas Brothers, there’s a new trio that will melt a young girl’s heart and make a middle-aged woman cry. Il Volo, an Italian group consisting of three teens, released their self-titled album in the U.S. earlier this week, which has already gone platinum in their native Italy. The group’s repertoire is a mix of classic Italian standards and original material, their hit single a rendition of the Italian favorite “O Sole Mio,” which they performed earlier this week on Good Day L.A.

The group is gaining momentum fast stateside, with appearances on American Idol and the Jay Leno Show already booked for Thursday and Friday this week, respectively. The voices of the young teens sound more like trained opera singers than pop stars, and I’m sure their marked talent will lead them far across the globe.
