Boston Common in Spring – A step-by-step landscape oil painting by Lily Miao

Skills is what I used to have when I grabbed a pen and started drawing in my teenage years back at home. I recently walked into an art shop and bought a new set of pens, a notepad and tried to draw some elements for the website – but I failed miserably. I don’t know whether it’s the inspiration that I’m missing to draw or whether it’s the fact that I forgot how to draw. Is it possible to forget?

I remember a great quote, “The world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?” Yes, it’s a creative quote but I must admit – that the world doesn’t make much sense – and that’s why we need create art that sometimes, makes sense to what we remember.

This oil painting depicts Boston Common, the city’s central park.  I show each step of the creative process. The project is done by Lily Z. Miao, a boston based artist. Check out the rest of her work here
