Scarlett Johansson’s Flashback Photo Shoot: Star Channels Classic Stars
by Brian Willett
It’s pretty clear that Scarlett Johansson has enough physical assets to wow audiences starring as herself. But Johnsson showed off her ability to channel classic cinema stars in a photographic homage to legends of the past shot by Tim Walker. As you can see in the photos below, Johansson donned decades-old fashion – and breathed new life into it – to show her range and beauty as Marlene Dietrich, Sarah Bernhardt, Buster Keaton and Giulietta Masina in La Strada.
“We had just shot the Moët & Chandon ad campaign together,” says Johansson, explaining the origin of her and Walker’s idea. “And we were sampling the product—excessively.”
The alcohol-inspired idea gave birth to a 14-hour photo shoot, in which Johansson and Walker recreated classic looks with modern fashion and classic glamor. In addition to the classic film icons, this shoot stars some other big (brand) names – Calvin Klein, Boss, Burberry and more.
We’ve never seen so many shades of Scarlett before, and we couldn’t be happier to indulge in this palette.
