The Smurfs Make Their First 3D Trip to The Big Screen

by Iain Alexander

Those cuddly blue looking creatures called ‘The Smurfs‘ are officially returning to our screens in full 3D glory.

For those of you who grew up watching these little blue-like things get up to silliness, this movie will provide you with a fun and visual escape back to childhood, and on top of that, the Smurfs will come out of the screen in 3D.

Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animations are behind this 3D family adventure which tells the story of an evil wizard who chases all the smurfs from their homeland, ending up in a portal that links their world to ours. Of course, they end up landing in the middle of New York’s Central Park and have to find a way to escape back to their village, and before the evil wizard catches them. This sets us up for an adventurous journey as they try to figure out our world and all the craziness attached to it.

The Smurfs is directed by Raja Gosnell (Director of Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Scooby-Doo) and features the voices of Neil Patrick Harris, Sofia Vergara, and Hank Azaria.
