Rick Owens Spring 2012 – Beauty Report
by Mynxii White
Understated elegance illuminated modern spiritual goddesses gliding down the runway, each angel walking through a wall of light as if it was a gateway to heaven. A turn away from the usual dark and provocative “goth” glamor Rick Owens is usually known for, he instead created simplistic “electrocuted martyrs” that were both fabulous, and a little strange.
Bleached brows and clean skin exaggerated the monochromatic collection, giving the models an almost ghostly quality, ethereal and pure, pulling the look far away from sex and keeping it clean. The season was void of color save one pop of soft orange on the lip, the sole indulgence of glamor. Architectural, swept back hair was a modern twist on the usual updo; soft waves topping slick sides built a sci-fi style of refinement.
