Bold Brows for SS2012
by Katherine Gould
If there’s one thing you can do to prepare for next years warmer months is to be less heavy handed with the tweezers and think about how you will wear your brows next season.
There is no doubt that brows are to play a key role in fashion over the next six months from soft and defined to bold and over-drawn. Here, we examine some of those trends seen for Spring/Summer 2012.
At Altuzarra, make-up artist Tom Pecheux used black pencil and matte black eyeshadow to create bold, arched brows reminiscent of the 60’s siren. Applied with a precision brush and extended to compliment the models face, these brows were some of the most perfectly executed seen on catwalks this year. Skin was left looking nude and flawless creating an even more striking contrast with the linear precision of the brow.
Moschino and Max Mara make-up artists created full, soft brows by brushing hair up and out and selectively filling with light powder at the base. Versace added to the ultra-luxurious look of their models lightly bronzed skin and ‘expensive’ full hair by keeping brows within the same palette and defining without any overtly visible lines. In a reverse of traditional application, at Derek Lam, light shadow was left for the eyelids while tawny and bronze shades were taken from the crease and blended up into brows.
Thin or thick, bushy or defined… which way will your brows be heading next season?
