All eyes were on the Chanel Pre-Fall Collection this week as models paraded Karl Lagerfeld’s latest offering around a sumptuous banquet setting. Clothing, style and presentation has been discussed and analyzed at length, but how about the make-up?

What we did see in this collection was a unique diversity of model which is somewhat breaking the trend of casting models to replicate a consistent look for one show. This led to quite a variation in the shape of the key feature, the eye. Winged, squared and circled in opaque black there were echoes of the traditional Indian kohl contouring, adapted to suit individual eye shape,

Skin was kept natural using Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Foundation with a light dusting of loose powder to set. Cheeks were a light rose-pink, similar to the lips.

Eyes: To achieve a dense, long-lasting eye such as this, use a cream liner or kohl pencil such as Chanel’s Le Crayon Kohl in Noir and set with a matte black powder eyeshadow. Try using La Ligne – De Chanel Professional Eyeliner Duo, a multi-use product that delivers multiple results.

Hair ranged from center-parted and sleek to dread locked and piled high on the head, all adorned with diverse, draping jewelry.

Hair: For sleek hair, blow-dry from the scalp downwards to smooth the cuticle and add a small amount of Shine spray to finish. For DIY dreadlocks add dry shampoo to ‘dry out’ hair, alternate between back-coming small sections and rolling between palms to create finger-size locks. To set, mist with hairspray and clamp with flat irons.
