Carolina Herrera Pre Fall 2012 Collection
by Keesean Moore
Few designers have mastered the art of understated elegance. For Carolina Herrera it’s become a lifestyle. Carolina made it clear that pre-fall was a continuation of spring, which was jam packed with prints, color, and embellishment.
For the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, Herrera turned the volume down a few notches and presented a focused group of loveable, though completely wearable, pieces to seamlessly transition her loyal customers from summer into fall.
You could tell by this assortment that even a veteran like Carolina Herrera is having to make a conscious effort to address a younger clientele. This was accomplished beautifully with the prints, inspired by her poodle Gasper, that looked like magnified plant cells. Or the one show-stopping cocktail dress that was embellished from bust to knee in gold rectangular paillettes with an airy tulle hem that made it all the more perfect.
Overall it was a group about decadence, from fur sleeves to couture construction.
