Lara Stone enjoys Calvin Klein bash

Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa says his fall line is about mixing “luxury and innovative technology”.

Lara Stone was among the models to party at a Calvin Klein event in Seoul last night.

The fashion company threw a lavish bash in the city, while including a look at the firm’s fall collections and a video art exhibit.

Lara and Matthew Terry were two of the model’s in attendance, along with actresses Kate Bosworth and Chloë Moretz.

“This is a huge initiative and Korea is a very important market for us,” president and chief executive officer of Calvin Klein Inc. Tom Murry told WWD.

“Twenty per cent of our entire global sales are in Asia, and Korea has shown 20 percent growth last year with $300 million in sales.”

All kinds of fashion pieces were on display, from leather sweatshirts from the Calvin Klein Collection to items from the Calvin Klein underwear line.

The lingerie items were shown off by live models, with Matthew – who is the face of the male underwear and jeans brand – proving particularly popular with the female guests.

“We made use of great technical fabric and innovative fiber, with an emphasis on the waist,” Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa said of the women’s pieces, such as belted dresses.

“It’s a mix of luxury and innovative technology that allowed us to achieve cuts and patterns that weren’t possible before.”

Kate added: “This is the first time I’m seeing it in person — I’ve only seen it online. There’s something really modern and courageous about their minimalist approach that I really appreciate.”
