Emma Hill says Festival Girls inspired Mulberry’s new line

Mulberry creative director Emma Hill says the label’s new range mixes elements of their sell-out Alexa bag with a “seasonal twist”.

The fashion company’s creative director has talked about the brand’s new Tassel collection, which is based on the British pastime of partying at music festivals.

The range has already been snapped up by the label’s A-List fans including Emma Watson, Lily Collins and Kate Bosworth and will undoubtedly be another sell-out success.

“The Tassel collection came about after seeing gorgeous Mulberry girls at festivals, bags slung over their shoulders, not afraid of a bit of English mud,” Hill told Vogue. “It reminded me of the image of laid-back Seventies festivals, fringing, tassels – the works!”

The new range features over-sized bags and satchels, with elements from previous popular styles like the Alexa bag incorporated into the designs.

All creations feature the eponymous tassels, as well as studs and long chain straps.

The bags are available in a selection of gorgeous colors and leathers to suit every taste.

“I think the idea of taking a classic Mulberry icon and giving it a modern, seasonal twist makes this collection stand out,” Hill added. “I love the easy-to-wear aspect of the bags in this range – they’re very much chuck-them-on-and-off-you-go. But, at the same time, there are the super special styles, in gorgeous new seasonal leathers like lizard and tiger print haircalf and super-sumptuous suede. I love the laid-back festival vibe.”
