Thakoon Panichgul focuses on future

Thakoon Panichgul doesn’t want to be surrounded by archives as he’s uninterested in the past.

The designer has opened his studio space to Vogue magazine. He has covered the area in mood boards, while the simple grey palette is accentuated with red splashes.

Thakoon explained he doesn’t use sketch books and is also uninterested in showing off his past collections.

“I’m an in-the-moment kind of person,” he explained. “The past is the past – I don’t want to look at it, I want to move forward.”

One staple at the studio is the designer’s dog Stevie. The pooch is so well behaved she even goes to meetings on occasion.

“Once, I was in a rush and I had to bring her in her bag to a CFDA meeting,” Thakoon laughed. “She went right to sleep under the table, I don’t think Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO noticed!”

The designer is soon moving on to new premises, although he feels an affinity for the place where he launched the label. The star knows the time is right for a change, explaining he has trusted his instincts implicitly throughout his entire career.

“If I have to think about it too much, I know it’s not right,” he said.
