Fendi Menswear Fall Winter 2013 Ready-to-Wear Collection
by Melissa Tunstall
Earth tones ruled the runway for Fendi’s Fall outing in a massive turnaround from the futuristic vibe of its previous collection. Nixing the intergalactic backdrop and designs, this season’s designs were all about bringing it back to Earth.
Icy blues, mossy greens, rusty reds, and goldenrod yellows provided a genuine visualization of the earthly inspiration, but the different textures and shapes are what made the collection such a success. Not shying away from texture on texture, lush fabric on lush fabric, Silva Fendi topped brown leather pants with an oversized fur jacket, paired with cashmere and fur accents. Interspersing subtle prints only added to the textural play. Pairing slim fit pants with oversized cape-like jackets and long overcoats also added to the impeccably thought out collection.
Placing touches of nature throughout the collection, a masculine and terrestrial vision came to life. A mix of hunter and wood nymph, fisherman and merman created the ideal combination of earthy man. With an palpable mythical quality, Fendi returned to rugged terrain and managed to create the perfect blend of fantasy with pastoral.
