Nail Trends Spring 2013: Nude Nails, Part 1 of 5
Creativity was overflowing this season, and the usual spring corals were shelved in favor of mini works of art for each fingernail; everything from perfect opalescent nudes painted to resemble the inside of seashells to triple tiered manicures were seen all over runways in designs of all shapes and colors.
Vampy nails and bold metallics upped the attitude for some serious sex appeal, while two tone hues added fun color for flirty fingers. The collection of images of polished paws around the globe is like a gallery of tiny art pieces that really bring the total look to new levels.’
Nude nails are always a favorite when the weather gets warmer and the spring look becomes softer. It’s just easy; a simple nail color is the quickest way to match everything from the fun brights to elegant floral that pop up every year without having to think too hard about a total look. It’s the neutral go to that keeps things classic for an understated elegance that never goes out of style. At Monique Lhuillier, nails were inspired by reflective aquatic movement; an underwater manicure was created using CND Lavender Pearl Effect mixed with a few drops of brand new CND polish in Lilac Longing (available Spring 2013). Chanel bought back the classic French manicure with signature color Ballerina. Essie’s Topless and Barefoot were also nude runway favorites, easy colors to throw on in a flash.
