Ari Up, who led the innovative British punk band the Slits, died Wednesday at 48. According to John Lydon of the Sex Pistols, Ari Up – real name Arianna Forster – had been battling a serious illness for some time.

In a surprising turn of events, there is a pending musical plagiarism lawsuit that doesn’t involve Coldplay. This time, it’s Red Hot Chili Peppers who may be suing Diana Vickers, as her song “My Wicked Heart” is said to bear too much of a resemblance to the RHCP classic “Under the Bridge.” Are the songs too similar? If you’re one of our many New York readers, you’re probably aware the Brooklyn Bridge was temporarily closed after suspicious packages were discovered. At 9:40 am today, the Brooklyn Bridge was shut down due to a package that was suspected to have been a bomb. However, less than an hour later, the Brooklyn Bridge was re-opened, as the package turned out to contain flashlights.
