A series of mixed illustration by Daryl Feril of some of the worlds most famous designer brands done with graphite and watercolor and some digital work. “The design aim to illustrate and create a very feminine mood yet still converse the sophistication and identity of each brand” says Daryl.

It was an eventful year for the fashion world. What didn’t happen? There was the John Galliano scandal and all the succession speculation that ensued, Creative Directors were thrown around from house to house like rag dolls, Marc Jacobs’ Spring collection was stolen in London en route from Paris, the Alexander McQueen exhibit broke records at the Met, Sarah Burton designed Catherine Middleton’s wedding dress, Lady Gaga – the list goes on and on.

For McQ’s Pre-fall 2012, Burton used the 1967 film ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’ as a reference, the collection served serious English gentry and Victorian vibes with sharp suits and separates, elaborate ruffled blouses, and exaggerated turn-of-the-century collars on knits and shirt dresses.

McQ announces the opening of the McQ flagship store in Spring 2012 and a debut show at London Fashion Week.

Three seasons into her role as lead designer for Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton still can’t shake Gaia, the all-encompassing mother of Earth, off her back. Perhaps it is that deep affinity Burton has to the mythological roots of feminine dictations that has allowed her to not only carry the weight of her former boss’ legacy so quickly, but has helped to anchor the brand in a vision of feminine strength that women, and buyers, find more accessible.

An army of ice queens commanded the runway adorned in 6,000 silver and metallic black barrettes for the show, all supplied by Goody to create the ultramodern vision of the Alexander McQueen girl.

A private memorial service will be held for Alexander McQueen at London Fashion Week in September. The designer was found dead in his London home in February after committing suicide and now an event will take place at the city’s St. Paul’s Cathedral to celebrate his life and work.
